This is a very excellent article, by Steve Kyte, devoted to the early-eighties Anglo-Japanese SF puppet series STAR FLEET (the one that was a lot better than TERRAHAWKS).
The article first appeared in MANGA MAX magazine 17 (May 2000), published by Titan Magazines.
The series, known as X-BOMBER first aired on Japan's Fuji TV between October 1980 and March 1981. It was not a resounding ratings success.
The show reached the UK, as STAR FLEET, in October 1982.
It also aired in the United States (where it also enjoyed an almost-complete VHS release).
