  1. ** MORE BREAKING NEWS **

TITAN UK ALSO CANCELS TRANSFORMERS COMIC

Only a week has passed since titan ended their star wars comic and now they have done it again, cancelling their long running TRANSFORMERS title. is this just a co-incidence or have titan decided to do a little house cleaning so to speak...?

The title appeared in 2007 as a tie-in with the first movie and then re-booted several times to co-incide with either a new movie or animated series. There was even a short lived spin-off TRANSFORMERS ANIMATED.

All told, it ran to 5 volumes with the last batch being a tie-in with AGE OF EXTINCTION.

The American IDW line of comics remains as strong as ever.

Have a great xmas slow robot and cu in the new year. If 2014 was the year of the revolutionary war, then 2015 will be the year in which the force awakens !

    1. Thank you sir. Festive greetings to you too.

I don't know much about publishing but it is entirely possible that Titan are indeed doing some house-clearing... either because sales have dropped on those titles or - more likely - the licenses are running out and they don't want to/ haven't been invited to renew.

It's surprising to hear that TRANSFORMERS is going as it seemed a hardy perennial, periodically bolstered by a new movie or TV release. Maybe the previous film didn't create the desired sales spike to make the license worthwhile. Print is a declining market (the amount of shelf space WH Smith devotes to all periodicals is noticeably less than even 12 months ago) so across-the-board sales drops may have made some licenses too expensive based on sales and income.
