1989: DENNIS Issue 1 (Marvel UK)

The first issue of MARVEL UK's DENNIS fortnightly, based on the animated series (aired around this time on Channel Four) which was in turn based on the long-running US newspaper strip better known elsewhere as Dennis the Menace.  I can't imagine why they had to do some logo redesigning for the UK…

This was published in November 1989.  I have no idea how long it ran.  I'm sure the strips are US reprints, published under license.  

Sadly the Woppa Chew has long-since parted company with this copy.

1989: DENNIS COMIC (Marvel UK)

This is another obscurity from the Marvel UK vaults: the fortnightly DENNIS comic, launched in November 1989.

US readers will know the little tyke by his full title - DENNIS THE MENACE - although British readers will understand immediately why the name needed a bit of pre-publication pruning.

Marvel US had published a Dennis comic, an early venture into comics for younger readers (predating the Star Comics imprint), but they'd long since abandoned the character by the time the UK Annex of Ideas launched this so - I assume - this was a completely separate licensing deal.

Dennis had something of a media profile in the UK thanks to the animated episodes (also - inevitably - known as Dennis) airing on Channel Four.

Unfortunately, I've no idea how long the fortnightly lasted.
