1987: DOCTOR WHO - THE FRAME FANZINE - PART TWO

Here's the concluding part of THE FRAME cover gallery, covering the 'zine's run between 1989 and its final 76-page whopper in 1993 as well as their special one-shot tribute to prolific WHO (and many others, including the brilliant THE NIGHTMARE MAN) director Douglas Camfield who died in 1984.

1987: DOCTOR WHO - THE FRAME FANZINE - PART ONE

Here' the first part (or two) of a cover gallery for the legendary DOCTOR WHO fanzine THE FRAME which set a high benchmark for 'zines, and gave the official Marvel mag a run for its money, in the late eighties and early nineties.

Running between 1987 and 1993 (although, towards the end, publication became increasingly sporadic as the editors turned their attentions to other WHO-related publishing projects), The Frame put a new emphasis on high-quality publishing and extensive behind-the-scenes coverage of the show's production, especially design.

1988: THE FRAME DOCTOR WHO 25th ANNIVERSARY COVER

DOCTOR WHO returned to TV screens over the long Easter weekend, officially getting the 50th anniversary celebrations underway.

So I thought it would be fun to rewind 25 years (OMG!) and post what I still consider to be one of the greatest fanzine covers ever.

THE FRAME issue 8 (November 1988) marked the occasion of the show's 25th anniversary with this amazing cover by Trevor Baxendale.

As the text feature explains, the objective was to incorporate one element from every TV story to date.  There's no key because the cover doubled as a competition.

The Frame was a glossy pro-zine, edited/ published by David Howe, Mark Stammers and Stephen James Walker and published between 1987 and 1993.  The 24 issues took full advantage of its top-notch (for the time) production standards to showcase the behind-the-scenes aspects of the show.
