1976: CAPTAIN BRITAIN PRE-LAUNCH ADVERTS
As we continue our Jubilee-themed week (which those in the know have already dubbed Captain Britain Week), here are two pre-launch in-house advertisements from Marvel UK, published in September and October 1976, just before the launch of the weekly.
The first, published landscape style, is a typical piece of Marvel hype: fans with more than a cursory knowledge of Marvel's existing heroes soon spotted that OUR Captain was neither "all new", "all different" and, certainly not, "all British". But, at least they tried!
