1982: DOCTOR WHO SPECIALS COVER GALLERY - PART FOUR (MARVEL UK)

Out with the Tom and in with the Pete.

The DOCTOR WHO SUMMER SPECIAL 1982 continued the policy of all-new material, with an emphasis on text pieces, established the previous winter.

Editor Alan McKenzie put together a double-header interview with Davison and Anthony Ainley, a behind-the-scenes photo-features from Time Flight, making monster masks and how the show was shot (unfortunately all rendered in Marvel UK's familiar murky print quality), two archives and a nice photo-feature on previous monsters which made nice use of the glossy colour centre-spread.

The two original comic strips, The Fabulous Idiot (Parkhouse/ Senior) and The Freefall Warriors (Parkhouse/ Gibbons) perplexed casual readers by not featuring any familiar elements from the TV show.
